Noblo Umbrella Buddy...Review & Giveaway!

The minute the snow begins melting my mind starts drifting to summer.  We Mainers simply can’t help ourselves…after our long winters we are ready for some fun in the sun.  I love taking the kids to the beach even though, with three little ones, the process can be a little less than relaxing.  After lugging all the gear (towels, blanket, cooler, toys, beach umbrella) and children, it is time to set up.  Spread out enormous blanket, dump out toys and set up umbrella and then proceed to chase said beach umbrella down the shore before it knocks down an unsuspecting child. This happens to me every single time I go to the beach and I am not alone.  I see parents struggling to anchor umbrellas and then scrambling to catch them as they blow away.  This is more than just a nuisance too with many people getting injured each year as result of blowing beach umbrellas.  The answer to this issue?  The Noblo Umbrella Buddy.

The Noblo Umbrella Buddy, created by two moms (you all know how much I love a mom biz!!), is a small, vinyl bag with an attached strap.  You fill the bag with sand and attach the strap above the spokes of your umbrella.  Viola…your beach umbrella is anchored and you don’t have to worry about chasing your umbrella down when you should be chasing after your children.  When you are done, you simply dump out the sand and fold the Noblo Umbrella Buddy up to use next time.  I know the Noblo will have a permanent spot in my beach bag and I can hit the beach a little more relaxed with one less thing to worry about.  Hello summer fun!  You can pick up the Noblo Umbrella Buddy for $14.99 in a slew of fun colors by visiting www.thenoblo.com.

I also want to mention a couple of things I think are great about the Noblo company.  First the product is packaged in New Jersey by CVR, a local non-profit who hires mentally and physically handicapped individuals.  Second, $.05 of every bag sold goes directly to United States Life Saving Association (the non-profit for beach life guards).  So, the Noblo has a whole lot going for it if you ask me.....a useful and reasonably priced product, created by moms that gives back to the community.  I give the Noblo Umbrella (and company!) and A+ all around!

Devotion by Dani Shapiro...Review & Giveaway!

I just finished up a book that really got me thinking and I am so excited to be able to share it with you all....Devotion by Dani Shapiro.

Shapiro's newest memoir, a mid-life exploration of spirituality begins with her son's difficult questions-about God, mortality and the afterlife-and Shapiro's realization that her answers are lacking, long-avoided in favor of everyday concerns. Determined to find a more satisfying set of answers, author Shapiro (Slow Motion) seeks out the help of a yogi, a Buddhist and a rabbi, and comes away with, if not the answers to life and what comes after, an insightful and penetrating memoir that readers will instantly identify with. Shapiro's ambivalent relationship with her family, her Jewish heritage and her secularity are as universal as they are personal, and she exposes familiar but hard-to-discuss doubts to real effect: she's neither showboating nor seeking pat answers, but using honest self-reflection to provoke herself and her readers into taking stock of their own spiritual inventory. Absorbing, intimate, direct and profound, Shapiro's memoir is a satisfying journey that will touch fans and win her plenty of new ones.

I really, really enjoyed this book.  I could really identify with Shapiro in her quest to find the bigger meaning behind all the day to day drudgery.  The "is there more to life than wake, work, repeat?" type of questions.  Like Shapiro, I too worry about my children and feel this overwhelming sense of wanting to protect them and to lead them down the right path.  I also know what it is like to grow up around religion but to also have questions as well.  I really liked how she went into this with an open heart and mind to find her own sense of meaning.  The book was incredibly candid and, in my opinion, read like you were listening to an old friend talking about her highly personal journey.  Another plus for me were the super short chapters which made it a great book to pick up and read even if you only had a few minutes although it was also hard to put down because it was so interesting!  This is a great book for people of ALL religions and makes for an incredibly interesting read.  You can pick up your copy today on Amazon...

Nerve by Taylor Clark...Review!

There is a new book out that I think makes for a great read for everyone who gets a bit anxious every now and then...isn't that all of us??  Here is the scoop...

Nerves make us bomb job interviews, first dates, and SATs. With a presentation looming at work, fear robs us of sleep for days. It paralyzes seasoned concert musicians and freezes rookie cops in tight situations. And yet not everyone cracks. Soldiers keep their heads in combat; firemen rush into burning buildings; unflappable trauma doctors juggle patient after patient. It's not that these people feel no fear; often, in fact, they're riddled with it.

In
Nerve, Taylor Clark draws upon cutting-edge science and painstaking reporting to explore the very heart of panic and poise. Using a wide range of case studies, Clark overturns the popular myths about anxiety and fear to explain why some people thrive under pressure, while others falter-and how we can go forward with steadier nerves and increased confidence.

My mother-in-law, The Queen Bee, buzzed at the chance to read this one so I gave her first dibs and here is her take...

Being a worrier from birth, I was very interested to read this book, Nerve by Taylor Clark. I have read many books about anxiety most written by doctors, so this would be a new angle, a book about fear written by a researcher.
This book is filled with facts about how the brain processes fear and why we could never really live without it. We need to have fear to remain safe in this world, it is in-born. But there is a line that we cross when fear becomes our predominant emotion. Phobia, we are all familiar with that word. Heights, snakes, bees, people...you name it and someone is bound to be phobic about it. The science regarding treatment of phobias hasn't changed much over the years. Exposure is key. Keep exposing yourself to your fear until you become de-sensitized to it. This works for most people, but in the book Clark tells us, not all people respond no matter how many times they are exposed to their fear. The mind needs a certain attitude to conquer this stuff , in order to move forward. Hmm.....
As I said, there are many facts in this book and  many examples of heroes overcoming fear to save lives, that at times my eyes glazed over. All very interesting, but I guess I was looking for more of a "self-help" feel to this book. Something I could say " wow, that is really going to help" and then use it to cure my fears. I don't think I came away with an "aha" moment, but I did come away with some science behind this emotion, FEAR. I do recommend this book if you want to learn something new about something we, as human beings,  all share. There are also many stories of heroes in this book that I had never read about, and it is very interesting what they thought about after they had performed feats of super human strength and lived to tell the tale.
I think this sounds like a book we could all get something important from!  It is next on my "to-read list" and I can't wait to crack it open.  Like the Queen Bee I too am a worrier...I guess it is true that all men marry women like their mothers!!  You can pick up a copy of Nerve by Taylor Clark today on Amazon...

A big thank you to the Queen Bee for sharing her thoughts (check out her blog at www.qbeesbuzz.blogspot.com) and to the publisher for providing the book for my review.

Point To Happy...Review & Giveaway!

As I am sure you all know, April is autism awareness month.  Appropriately, Workman Publishing has just released the wonderful book, Point To Happy by Miriam Smith and Afton Fraser.  Point to Happy is the first book of its' kind....a book specifically geared toward children on the autism spectrum.  Here is the scoop...

Conceived of, written, and designed for children on the autism spectrum, Point to Happy combines a picture book and a pointer to create a breakthrough in reaching children who communicate best through pictures. Ingenious in its simplicity, it was created by a grandmother, Miriam Smith, and mother, Afton Fraser, for Ms Fraser’s son, a young boy on the autism spectrum.

Point to happy. Point to sad. Point to hug. Give me a hug. The parent reads, the child points. It turns reading into a joyful, shared experience. Dozens of friendly photographs are compelling to look at and easy to understand. The text is clear and direct. By pointing to the pictures in the book—moods, activities, everyday objects, the rituals of going to bed and getting ready in the morning—children will learn to convey their wants and needs, their experiences and, most importantly, their feelings.

The simple device of the pointer, with its soft, molded hand on a wand—safety-tested and 100 percent nontoxic and PVC-and phthalate-free—begs to be held and used. And using it—the motor task of holding and pointing, again and again—is an effective tool to help a child focus.

This book is absolutely wonderful.  The pictures use "real" children, items and emotions making it visually interesting to children.  My children do not have autism but they still greatly enjoyed this book.  I think Point to Happy is a fantastic tool for helping all young children read emotions.  Baby R at 18 months particularly liked the pointer which is, hallelujah!!, attached to the book. She also had fun trying to point to the items in the book and I think it is a great way to help little ones with item recognition.  The last few pages of the book are left blank allowing you to add your own photos which allows you to make it your own.  I think my favorite part of Point to Happy is that it is 100% interactive which, I think, all children enjoy and relate to.

If you have a child or know a child on the autism spectrum or a child who is a visual learner, Point to Happy is a must.  Pick up your copy today on Amazon for under $14!!!!

Grandkid Rock by Daddy A Go Go....Review and Giveaway!

As you all well know, the kids and I love listening to music, particularly in the car.  We are often on the go and we like something fun to listen to on our journeys.  Right now in spot number one in our car CD player is the latest offering by Daddy A Go Go, Grandkid Rock.  Based on the opinions of A, W, R and their chauffeur (me!) I would say this one will be in this coveted spot for quite some time!  Before I get into the specifics of this new favorite, I want to share how I introduced it.  When I popped it in, I told the kids it was Grandkid Rock, music sung by a Dad.  Well, the next time they got in the car, "W", said to me "Mom, I want to hear Grampy John's music".  Grampy John is my dad, their Grampy, who passed away.  It took me a minute but I realized they meant Grandkid Rock!  Now, when we get into the car they always ask for Grampy John's music I know just what they mean!  Here is the scoop on Daddy A Go Go in case his work is new to you...

Multi-award-winning children’s rock and roll recording artist Daddy A Go Go, a.k.a. Atlanta stay-at-home dad John Boydston, enthusiastically announces the April 19 release of his eighth CD, Grandkid Rock

A leading advocate for rock and roll in kids’ music, former CNN producer John Boydston has been “rocking out and raving on” for families since 1998.  The acclaim has been tremendous.  Five Daddy A Go Go CDs have made Amazon.com’s “Best of the Year” critics’ list.  Come on, Get Happy (The Best of Daddy A Go Go, Volume I) was included this past November on the AOL ParentDish “Top 25 Albums for Kids” list.   Monkey in the Middle and Mojo A Go Go were honored with the prestigious Parents’ Choice® Award.  The Washington Post credited Daddy A Go Go with helping change the face of kids’ music by moving “playroom tunes into the pop-rock era.”   Kids’ music authority Warren Truitt (About.com/Children’s Music) characterized Boydston’s albums as “full of puns, parental pop music winks, and headbanging riffs … John Boydston lets the jokes fly and the rock and roll thunder.”  Daily Candy Kids

A “greatest hits” album comprised of 16 remixed tunes that John Boydston considers his “rockingest rockers” from six previous Daddy A Go Go CDs, Grandkid Rock cheerfully continues the Daddy A GoGo alterna-rock tradition of what Stomp & Stammer described as “upbeat, wildly entertaining rave-ups, sing-alongs and silly puns that have endeared the group to kids (and their parents) nationwide.” While Boydston’s most recent release, Come On, Get Happy, focused on softer songs for younger children, Grandkid Rock goes the other direction, rocking out for the bigger kids with lots of electric guitars, drums, driving rhythms and power chords.
(Boyd’s Tone Records, $11.99, run time 40 minutes, for ages 3 – 10). declared, “Not some watered-down musician for wee ones, Boydston isn’t afraid to shred some serious guitar riffs.”

This CD is fabulous.  It is 100% listenable even for the grow-ups.  My boys LOVE the song "I Want to Be an Action Figure" and "Eat Every Bean on Your Plate".  I get a big kick out of  "I Caught My Granddad Watching Cartoons" and was pleasantly surprised to hear a lovely "rocking" rendition of Louie Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World".  The music is just so much fun and catchy.  When I was just typing those song titles I found myself singing them in my head and swaying at my PC....Thanks Daddy A Go Go!

Grandkid Rock is fun for the whole family and a CD I highly recommend!  Pick up your copy today on Amazon...

World Without Fish by Mark Kurlansky...Review & Giveaway!

Like all families, here at Reviewed By Mom we try and do our part to be environmentally responsible.  I do my best to teach my three little ones to care about our earth and to set a good example for them.  When I heard about the just released book (out 4/18), World Without Fish by Mark Kurlansky, I knew I had to have it.  This book is for the whole family and is a tool to teach our children (and ourselves!) about the terrifying but true prospect of a world without fish.  Think this is crazy talk?  Not so crazy at all....if we keep doing what we have been doing fish could be extinct within 50 years!!  Yikes!  Here is more about this fascinating book...

Mark Kurlansky, beloved author of the award-winning bestseller Cod: A Biography of the Fish That Changed the World, offers a riveting new book for kids about what’s happening to fish, the oceans, and our environment, and what, armed with knowledge, kids can do about it.

Written by a master storyteller,
World Without Fish connects all the dots—biology, economics, evolution, politics, climate, history, culture, food, and nutrition—in a way that kids can really understand. It describes how the fish we most commonly eat, including tuna, salmon, cod, and swordfish, could disappear within 50 years, and the domino effect it would have—oceans teeming with jellyfish and turning pinkish orange from algal blooms; seabirds disappearing, then reptiles, then mammals. It describes the back-and-forth dynamic of fishermen and scientists. It covers the effects of industrialized fishing, and how bottom-dragging nets are turning the ocean floor into a desert.

The answer? Support sustainable fishing.
World Without Fish tells kids exactly what they can do: Find out where those fish sticks come from. Tell your parents what’s good to buy, and what’s not. Ask the waiter if the fish on the menu is line-caught And follow simple rules: Use less plastic, and never eat endangered fish like bluefin tuna.

Interwoven with the book is a full-color graphic novel. Each beautifully illustrated chapter opener links to form a larger fictional story that complements the text. Hand in hand, they create a
Silent Spring for a new generation.

Wow...this book is truly amazing.  The message is strong but it is presented in a way that is completely appropriate for children and coupled with vibrant drawings, fun fonts and cartoons.  This book is not just for children, in fact the suggested ages are 9 and up, and is an important read for anyone looking to better our world (that is all of you I hope!!).   While A&W are only 4.5 they could definitely understand the parts I shared with them and began to think about ways they could make a difference.  While my kiddos are too little to write letters to officials they can start thinking about using less plastic and reminding mommy and daddy about the OK kinds of fish to eat.  Living in Maine, talk of fishing makes people pretty hot and bothered.  Many here make their livings in that way but, rest assured, Kurlansky does not want us to stop fishing (not at all!) he simply is calling on us to be more responsible about it.  Besides, if we keep it up, there will be no fish to fish!

I highly recommend this book and I hope you will all read it and pass it on to those you know.  I know we all want our world to be a better place for our children and this book shares some great ideas.  Pick up World Without Fish today...

I Want A Dog by Jamie Broza....Review and Giveaway!

Are you looking for some new music to get your kids bee bopping?  Jamie Broza has a brand new CD out called I Want a Dog and it is sure to be a hit with the little ones in your life.  In case you have not heard of this acclaimed musician, here is a little background....

Broza is back!  Four-time Emmy-winning composer/performer Jamie Broza announces the March 15I Want a Dog! (Good Mood Records, $12.99, for ages 3 – 7, run time 41 minutes). The Latin-infused album features a guest appearance by Jamie’s cousin, Israeli superstar David Broza.

Although I Want a Dog! opens with some fine canine rhythmic banter on its title track, don’t expect 41 minutes of strictly dog talk.  Get set for more surprises than you ever thought possible on one disc.  For many of the songs on I Want a Dog! Jamie Broza has brilliantly called upon the sophisticated stylings of Brazilian bossa nova, which experienced a tidal wave of popularity in the 1960s but often flies under the radar of today’s young families. This is music that never gets in the way of the lyrics, creating the ultimate story-song setting.   Listening to I Want a Dog! is almost like listening to the sound track of a hysterically zany home movie -- a document of off-the-wall family fun creatively imbued with terrific comedic timing and brainy humor.

My friend and fellow blogger scooped up this CD for a recent road trip with her kiddos to help pass the time and this is what they had to say...

My boys and I listened to this CD in the car on a road trip.  The boys found most of the songs amusing and fun and were wiggling around in their seats.  For this mom, though, this was one of those CD’s I can not see myself playing on a regular basis.  This is a definite kids CD and even includes kids singing.  It just wasn’t something this mom could groove to and I found myself skipping tracks before they were truly over because repetition in lyrics would start to get to me.  I think this CD will live in my boy’s bedroom so that they can play it on their CD player whenever they wish and I can just shut the door.

* I read lots of other reviews of this CD online and I seem to be the only one not “into” it.  I think it’s definitely just a style preference.

It sounds like a toss up....Mom does not love it so much but the boys loved it!  Now if I know Colleen, she will be letting those two adorable boys of hers play it over and over again because that is what we parents do....let the kids run the music show!  If you are looking for a sure kid pleaser, Jamie Broza's I Want a Dog is sure to fit the bill.  You can pick up your copy today from the following retailers: www.goodmoodrecords.com, amazon.com, bigkidsvideo.com and cdbaby.com.

Jump Into Spring...Review & Giveaway!

Welcome Spring!  I don't know about you all but I am more than ready for Spring and am happy to welcome it in any way I can including the shows the kids and I watch.  When I heard there was a new spring DVD out from Lionsgate and HIT Entertainment I thought is was such a great idea.  Jump Into Spring is just what you need to say goodbye to Old Man Winter!  Here is the scoop...
Discover the joy of Spring with these eight sunny episodes! It's a perfect Spring day to fly kites with Barney™ and his friends, or join a three- legged race with Fireman Sam™ and then race backwards with Thomas around the Island of Sodor. With episodes from your favorite friends from Timmy Time™, Angelina Ballerina™ and much, much more, there is something for everyone in this Springtime celebration of warmhearted fun!

Episodes Include:
• Thomas & Friends: "Don’t Go Back"
• Fireman Sam: "Three Legged Race"
• Barney: "A Game For Everyone"
• Bob the Builder: "Dizzy and the Wheelies"
• Kipper: "The Big Race"
• Roary The Racing Car: " Big Chris’s Big Workout"
• Angelina Ballerina: "Cheerleader"
• Timmy Time: "Timmy Wants to Win"

I asked my friend and fellow blogger Colleen if she and her adorable sons would be a guest reviewer on this one and this is what she had to say...

All of my boys’ favorite characters on one DVD, hooray!  We particularly loved that it was Spring themed and full of outdoor adventures.  Our family doesn’t have cable or any TV channels so the boys loved being able to watch the characters they used to enjoy on TV as well as a few new ones!  I worried that some of the episodes wouldn’t entertain them (they outgrew Barney a while ago and anything girly like a ballerina is deemed un-cool) but I was wrong.  The boys watched all of the episodes and enjoyed them equally.  My 6 year old even commented on how great the Barney episode was, I was impressed!  This DVD runs just over an hour and is perfect to keep in our car.  The variety in characters keeps the boys entertained which means less back seat fighting and I don’t have to hear “Are we there yet?” quite as often.  Thumbs up from us!

Sounds like a good one doesn't it!  Woo-hoo for Spring!  You can pick up your copy today on Amazon...

Gulliver's Travels...Review!

Yesterday a brand new, hilarious movie hit the stores...Gulliver's Travels!  Here is the scoop...

SUMMARY: A hilarious zero-to-hero story about a larger-than-life Average Joe, GULLIVER’S TRAVELS sails on to 2-disc DVD with Gulliver’s Fun Pack and 3 disc Triple Play with Blu-ray, DVD and Digtial Copy from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on April 19, 2011. This family-friendly misadventure features side-splitting moments with epic wedgies, Lilliputian foosball, and a square-off duel with a robot!

Jack Black (Kung Fu Panda, School of Rock) brings his irreverent humor to this adventure-comedy based on the classic tale. To impress the pretty newspaper travel editor Darcy (Amanda Peet, 2012), an underachieving mailroom clerk named Gulliver (Black) takes a writing assignment traveling to Bermuda. When a shipwreck lands him on the fantastical island of Lilliput, he transforms into a giant — in size and ego! Gulliver’s tall tales and heroic deeds win the hearts of the tiny Lilliputians, but when he loses it all and puts his newfound friends in peril, Gulliver must find a way to undo the damage. Through it all, Gulliver may just learn that it’s how big you are on the inside that counts.

GULLIVER’S TRAVELS also stars Jason Segel (I Love You, Man), Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada), Amanda Peet (Something’s Gotta Give) and Chris O’Dowd (Dinner for Schmucks).

I felt like A&W were a bit young for some of the humor in this one (they are still 4 1/2 and the height of naughtiness right now is when they repeated a line from Scooby using the word "creep".  Can I keep them rated "G" forever??  In any case, I was excited myself to watch this one.  I think Jack Black is funny and he certainly did not disappoint in this flick.  This movie is silly and perfect for some goofy laughs.  Once I watched it I felt SURE my kids would have loved it and I will probably let them watch it sooner rather than later.  There is some potty humor (seriously...what kid doesn't think that is hilarious??) but there is also a sweet story there about growing up and doing the right thing.  The special effects were especially well done as well.   Serious this movie is not but, come on, don't we all need some silliness every now and again?  This one would be a fun one to rent with the kids for movie night or during this school vacation.  Pick up your copy today...

Kidtoons: Strawberry Shortcake Prize Pack Giveaway!

It is time for the Kidtoon's feature of the month and this month is is a real treat....The Strawberry Shortcake Movie:  Sky's The Limit.  I loved Strawberry Shortcake growing up and think this movie would be so much fun to take Little R to!

When a heavy storm plunks an even heavier boulder into a nearby stream, it stops the flow of water into Berry Bitty City!  So, with help from long-winded Mr. Longface, the girls set out to find the legendary "geyser rock," which creates water from the ground!  Their journey is rocky, and the story about the rock may not be very solid.  But with teamwork, a careful plan and lots of girl power, the friends just might get their creativity - and water - flowing again!

Sound great, right?   It is just the sort of great movie that makes me love Kidtoons.  In case you need a refresher on Kidtoons and what they do here is the scoop...

We even have fun giveaways for the kids, such as stickers, temporary tattoos, activity books or toys after every film.

Something else Kidtoons has, which is great , is the Kidtoons Birthday Club.  When you sign up here (with your children's or your own birthday) you will receive a free Kidtoons movie pass.  What a fabulous deal!! You can find a Kidtoons theater near you here.

Dinosaur Train Hatchers Review & Cupcake and Cake Decorating Set Giveaway!

Are you all getting ready for Easter?  At our house the excitement is building by the minute it seems!  The kids and I have been doing some fun activities and crafts and on Monday we are headed out to see the Easter Bunny himself.  I am always looking for ideas for fun holiday themed products and my friends at Dinosaur Train never let me down in this arena!  For Easter they have a bunch of fun things to check out including an IPHONE App for all you technologically inclined readers (I am woefully behind with my big clunky "old school" phone!!).  Read on...

Dinosaur Train Eggspress application, now for iPhone, iPod and iPad ($2.99), challenges your child to find and match dinosaur eggs and then reunite dinosaur families while progressing through three different time periods. Your child will discover real flora and fauna from the Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous eras. Along the way, there will be learning moments as Buddy and the Conductor reveal mystery dinosaur hatchlings, fun dinosaur facts, and an adorable Dinosaur Baby Book.  All aboard! Check out this review from Geek Dad: http://www.wired.com/geekdad/tag/dinosaur-train/.

Dinosaur Train also has what I am going to deem a "must have" for any dinosaur lover's Easter Basket...Dinosaur Train Hatchers!  These are SO MUCH FUN!  You simply put the dinosaur into a glass of room temperature water and, voila, 24-48 hours you have your very own baby dinosaur!  A&W were thrilled about this and excitedly kept checking, going bananas over each little crack in the shell.  We are now the proud parents of a little Shiny!

The folks at Dinosaur Train even have adorable cake decorating sets and cupcake rings.  We use any excuse we can get over hear at RBM central to bake and Easter is certainly no exception.  I know A&W would love to decorate some of our sweets with these fun decorations....

Cute right??  Guess what?  One lucky RBM reader will win a Dinosaur Train Cake Decorating Set AND Dinosaur Train Cupcake Rings!  You know your kids will love this!  Here is how to enter...

Glee Encore...Review & Giveaway!

Get ready, young Gleeks! With the newest release from this hit Fox TV show, younger fans of the popular program can enjoy the simple innocence and fun of the show, combined with the music they love all – all in one place!  With this new all-music version of the DVD, Moms can sit back, relax and turn off their “Parental Control”, as we have created a more family friendly home viewing experience that focuses on the fun of the music rather than the mature themes.

Glee Encore takes more than 30 show-stopping numbers from the first season and combines them for a fun-filled, all-music version of the series that kid and tween fans can sing along to and share with friends at slumber parties and after school get-togethers!

Glee Encore features performances by stars Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Matthew Morrison, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley and guest star Kristin Chenoweth. Popular songs available on the DVD include “Don’t Stop Believing,” “Gold Digger,” “I’ll Stand By You,” “True Colors,” “Jesse’s Girl” and “Total Eclipse of the Heart.” Glee is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television and is currently in its second season.

This DVD is SO much fun and 100% family friendly.  My kids are a little young to sit down and watch this but they sure had fun cutting a rug with mommy during these great numbers.  I really, really love Don't Stop Believing and we have had quite a few dance parties to that particular song.  I love that 20th Century Fox has taken the kid friendly parts of an adult show to make it appropriate for the whole family.  Even if you don't watch this show, you will want to watch this DVD.  This one will get the whole family moving and grooving!  You can pre-order your copy of Glee Encore (out April 19th!) today

One lucky RBM reader will win their own copy of Glee Encore thanks to Think Jam and 20th Century Fox Television!  Here is how to enter...

Chicken Soup For Soul: Shaping the New You...Review & Giveaway!

We all have fitness and health goals don't we?  I know I certainly do and I also know I can use all the inspiration I can get!  When I heard about a new offering from Chicken Soup for the Soul:  Shaping the New You, I knew it would be a great read for most anyone I know.  Here is the scoop...

101 Encouraging Stories about Dieting and Fitness... and Finding What Works for You
No one likes to diet, but the personal stories in this book will encourage and inspire readers with its positive, practical, and purposeful tales of dieting and fitness. Readers will find hope, help, and hints on getting fit and staying healthy in these 101 stories from those who have been there, done that, and maintained it. Stories about wake-up calls and realizations, moving more and eating better, self-esteem and support, and lifestyle changes, big and small, will motivate any reader looking to start fresh or needing a boost. This is a great book for anyone embarking on a healthier lifestyle.

I shared this my friend and fellow blogger, Colleen, and she was happy to give her take on it...

I don’t know many people who have never worried about their weight, been on a diet or tried to be healthier. These are issues most people deal with throughout their lives. There are so many books out there to “help” you be a better you so I was skeptical to read yet another. The difference with this book is that it’s written by real people and not fitness gurus and doctors.

Shaping the New You has 101 stories that cover many aspects of diet and weight loss. There are stories about going to the gym, stories about willpower and stories about temporary setbacks. One of my favorites was written from a treadmill’s point of view, it was right on.

One of the things that I love most about this book is that you don’t have to sit down and read it cover to cover to get motivated. You can read a story or two here and there to keep you on the right track. I’ll definitely keep this book around to read for a quick pick me up on the days that the M&M’s win out over the apples.

Thanks, Colleen!  Sounds great, doesn't it readers??  You can pick up your copy of Chicken Soup for the Soul:  Shaping the New You today on Amazon...
