Celebrating Earth Day with Frozen Planet ...R&G!

Happy Belated Earth Day All!  Did you do anything special at your house to celebrate?  It was rainy here so our plan to pick up trash in the neighborhood was foiled (we will do another day because, remember, EVERYday is Earth Day!).  We did do something special though....the family and I had a Planet Earth Earth Day Party!  To celebrate the release of the absolutely phenomenal DVD, Planet Earth the family and I were treated to some special Earth Day fun!

We started off with a pizza party and then Little R donned a penguin hat to get the party started.  Actually, Little R has been wearing this on most days since it arrived!

We  hunkered down in the living room to enjoy some penguin, whale and polar bear cookies and lots of popcorn and we popped in the first DVD.  All I can say is WOW!!!  Have you heard of Frozen Planet?  It is absolutely breathtaking.  Here is the scoop in case you are not familiar....

I can't say enough about Frozen Planet the entire family was riveted by the sheer beauty of the world we live in.  My son "W" kept saying "Is this real?" and "Did this really happen?".  It honestly looks too beautiful to possibly be real. The kids delighted in the antics of the penguins and were mesmerized by the massive whales.  There was a bit with wolves and a bison that was a little tough for W (the other 2 were fine) to watch (not at all gory but the bison was taken down by the wolves) but it just gave us the opportunity to talk about nature in it's true form.
