My Maine....Review & Give Away!

I have been a Mainer all of my life.  I love it here, despite the long winters with loads of snow and well below freezing temperatures.  Maine is home to me and I feel incredibly fortunate to live in the state dubbed "Vacationland".  When I find a book celebrating my home state, it pleases me immensely.  I want others to love Maine as I do!  When I was given the opportunity to review My Maine by Suzanne Buzby Hersey I was delighted.  This children's book sounded like just the sort of book I would love to share with the kiddos.

My Maine is adorable.  The little girl (and her adorable stuffed moose!) answer the question of "How Maine is Special to You" at show and tell by taking us along for a picturesque tour of my home state.  Hersey describes many of the places that make Maine special from Moosehead Lake to LL Bean to Bar Harbor as well as some of the things that make Maine unique like whoopie pies, lobster and beautiful rocky coasts.  We are Portlanders so we were especially excited to see The Children's Museum (where we visit several times per month) and the boat The Lucky Catch which resides in Portland Harbor.  The illustrations are lovely (done by Nicole Fazio in water color)and capture the beauty and likeness of the state.  My children love this book and so do I!  Whether you are a Mainer or you are "from away" you should absolutely have this delightful book for your bookshelf.  Pick up your copy today...

I am so pleased to tell you that the publisher, Little Beach Books is giving one lucky RBM reader a copy of My Maine! Thanks so much to the sponsor and here is how to enter...

Randy Kaplan: Mr. Diddie Wah Diddie...Review & Give Away!

You all know me well by now....I love great children's music.  It makes me happy to see my kids grooving along to the music as we drive down the street.  I love to expose them to different types of music and I think it is something special to broaden their musical horizons.  Newest on our play list?  Randy Kaplan's Mr. Diddie Wah Diddie.  This CD is a bluesy collection of fun and catchy songs that me and my kiddie passengers can't get enough of.

We actually have listened to Randy Kaplan before and we LOVE the title song from his 2011 release, Don't Fill Up On Chips.  So, we were fans going in.  Here is a bit of background on this latest offering...

2012 release that features Randy Kaplan's child-friendly versions of Country Blues and Ragtime numbers from the 1920s, 30s and 40s. Kaplan is a nationally acclaimed artist that Time Out New York Kids magazine recently named as one of the top children's performers in the nation. More than two years in the making, Mr. Diddie Wah Diddie includes 17 songs first performed by the likes of legendary blues musicians Robert Johnson, Blind Blake, Blind Boy Fuller, Jimmie Rodgers, Sonny Boy Williamson, Bessie Smith, Muddy Waters, Mance Lipscomb, Pink Anderson, Mississippi John Hurt, Hambone Willie Newbern, the Reverend Gary Davis, Blind Willie Johnson, Dave Van Ronk, Jim Jackson and Charlie Patton.

This CD is simply put a joy to listen to.  I love Randy Kaplans take on the blues and so do the kids.  He presents his own spin on classics in his quirky and kid friendly way.  This CD is a superb way to introduce children to blues music and your own ears will thank you (really....they will!).  Once your children become Randy Kaplan fans (believe me, they will!), you really should check out these fun ways to further enjoy this talented man....

myKaZoo just launched two exciting ways to enjoy one of Randy's witty blues-for-kids songs.

Randy dons a white cap and drives the truck that sends kids clamoring in the "Ice Cream Man Rag" video, recently launched on myKaZootv. A fun and FREE Ice Cream Game designed to test the memory of even the brightest music fan, just launched here: www.theicecreamgame.com

There is a new book out from Chicken Soup for the Soul....Say Hello to a Better Body:  Weight Loss and Fitness for Women Over 50.  Here is the scoop....

Weight Loss and Fitness for Women Over 50
Inspiring Chicken Soup for the Soul stories and accessible leading-edge medical information from Dr. Suzanne Koven of Harvard Medical School. Women over 50 fight menopause, creaky joints, busy lives, and other factors that interfere with their quests for weight control and fitness. These advice-filled stories from women over 50 who have figured out how to get fit are combined with Dr. Koven's practical advice and medical information. You won't have any more excuses!

My Mother in Law, The Queen Bee (follow her awesome blog HERE) had this to say about this new read...

Chicken Soup books are always inspirational. Read any one of the stories/chapters and you will learn something about yourself and others. This particular book is written by Dr. Suzanne Koven, a Harvard Medical faculty member and a Boston Globe columnist. So, not only do you read great stories from everyday people, but you get some important facts thrown in there by an experienced doctor. Say Hello to a Better Body is geared toward women over fifty, but any woman, young or old, can pick up some good advice by reading along.
What I liked about it, was that I can pick it up anytime for inspiring stories to get me through the rough days of dieting. Stories and facts about menopause, eating right, making small changes, and a really big one: negative thinking abound in this book.

I recommend this book whole-heartedly. And as much as I love to pass books on to others, I will have to keep this one around a while for instant inspiration !

Sounds like a hit!  You can pick up your copy today on Amazon....

The Girl Below by Bianca Zander...Review & Give Away!

Looking for a complex read?  Look no further than The Girl Below by Bianca Zander.  This one will surely get your wheels spinning.  Here is the scoop...

Suki Piper is a stranger in her hometown. . . .
After ten years in New Zealand, Suki returns to London, to a city that won't let her in. However, a chance visit with Peggy—an old family friend who still lives in the building where she grew up—convinces Suki that there is a way to reconnect with the life she left behind a decade earlier. But the more involved she becomes with Peggy's dysfunctional family, including Peggy's wayward sixteen-year-old grandson, the more Suki finds herself mysteriously slipping back in time—to the night of a party her parents threw in their garden more than twenty years ago, when something happened in an old, long-unused air-raid shelter. . . .
A breathtaking whirlwind of mystery, transgression, and self-discovery, Bianca Zander's The Girl Below is a haunting tale of secrets, human frailty, and dark memory that heralds the arrival of an extraordinary new literary talent.

This novel was haunting.  Suki Piper is a many layered character who is, at times, a bit hard to like.  She seems aimless and unambitious but ultimately that is what keeps you reading.  The question is WHY is Suki Piper who she is.  The story bounces back between present day and Suki's childhood throughout the book. I really enjoyed how Bianca Zander presented the story in this way because not only do I think it added further depth to Suki's tale but I think it kept me wanting to no more without offering up her history all in one full swoop.  Zander has a gift with words that made this mystery/coming of age tale one I was reluctant to put down.  I can't wait for her next work!  Pick up this read today and let me know what you think.... I am so pleased to tell you that the publisher is offering one lucky RBM reader a copy of The Girl Below. Thanks so much to the sponsor and here is how to enter.... a Rafflecopter giveaway Pin It

Fresh Beat Band Wizard of Song....Out NOW! Review & Give Away!!

Earlier this month, Nickelodeon released a DVD featuring every child's favorite band, The Fresh Beat Band.  Here is the scoop on what has my kids (OK, OK, and maybe me too!) up dancing!

Jason Mraz and Sarah Chalke guest star in the brand-new DVD, Fresh Beat Band: The Wizard of Song. In the title episode, Marina gets swept up into a windstorm and lands in Oz where she meets Glinda the Good Witch played by Sarah Chalke (Scrubs), befriends a Scarecrow (Twist), a Tin Woods-Woman (Kiki), and a Lion (Shout). They set off on a journey to find the Wizard of Song (Jason Mraz) so he can help Marina get back home. In addition, preschoolers can enjoy two bonus episodes from the hit live-action series.

Fresh Beat Band: The Wizard of Song Episode Synopses:

    The Wizard of Song
When Marina gets swept up into a windstorm, she lands in Oz where she meets Glinda the Good Witch (Sarah Chalke). Along the way, she befriends a Scarecrow (Twist), a Tin Woods-Woman (Kiki), and a Lion (Shout) and they go to the Wizard of Song (Jason Mraz) so that Marina can find her way home.

    Ghost Band
The Fresh Beats run into a ghost band when they get a gig in a western town. They face-off against the ghosts in a musical showdown and discover that the ghosts are misunderstood. So they work together to bring people back to the town.

    Chimps in Charge
The Fresh Beats help their friend Harper babysit a pair of chimps who are a lot to handle. Marina gets the idea to build a jungle gym for the chimps in the park and the Fresh Beats find a perfect song to rock their show.

My children have been Fresh Beat Fans for a while now.  The catchy songs, dancing and fun adventures have had them hooked.  We are also fans of The Wizard of Oz so, as you can imagine, this DVD has been wildly popular in our home.  The Fresh Beats put their own "fresh" spin on this old favorite.  The songs were fun and my kids liked the familiar characters from the Wizard of Oz taken on by Fresh Beats.  They really liked the juniorkins!  The whole episode was colorful and exciting for them.  This was a huge hit!  The other two episodes were well loved as well especially "Ghost Band" by A&W because they are into all things even remotely spooky these days.  The Wizard of Song is a must have for any Fresh Beat Band fan....family fun for all!  Pick up your copy today....

The Burning House by Foster Huntington....Review & Give Away!

I have the most interesting  and unique book to tell you about today....The Burning House by Foster Huntington.  This book has a permanent place on my side table because it is one I can flip through again and again and it is a superb conversation piece.  Have you heard of the Burning House?  If not, here is the scoop...

Your house is burning. You have to get out fast. Suddenly you are forced to prioritize, editing down a lifetime of possessions to a mere handful. Now you must decide: Of all the things you own, what is most important to you?
The practical? Your laptop, your smartphone, what you need to keep working and stay in touch?
The valuable? Your money, your jewelry, the limited edition signed poster in the living room?
The sentimental? The watch your late grandfather gave you, the diary you kept as a teenager?
What you choose to bring with you speaks volumes about who you are and what you believe in—your interests, your background, your view of life.
With contributions from all over the world, The Burning House is an eye-opening pictorial meditation on materialism; an in-depth, intensely personal interview contained in a single question; a revealing window into the human heart.

This book with full color pictures is absolutely fascinating.  You get a look on what is important to a person.  You get  a glimpse of who they are, what moves them and that window into the soul of another is priceless.  It is an excellent study in the human mind that is for sure.

The photos with listings of items varies so much from person to person.  From pictures, to letters, to things seemingly frivolous (but ARE they??) you can learn so much about a person.  Check out this one as an example....

    Name: Maggie Fox
    Age: 40
    Location: Toronto, Ontario
    Occupation: CEO
    Website: www.twitter.com/maggiefox
    List:
    • Grandmother’s jewelry box
    • Brass hairpin
    • Box of old family letters (150 years old+)
    • Christian Louboutin black patent wedge heels
    • iPhone 4S
    • My child (not pictured)
    • My passport
The pictures in the book are creative and vibrant and the bits about each give you background and then allow your mind to wander and wonder about the story behind.  Who knows?  Maybe you will even be inspired to take your own Burning House picture!!  This book gets two thumbs up from me and I think it would make an excellent gift.  Pick up your copy today on Amazon...

Horten's Incredible Illusions By Lissa Evans....review and giveaway

Just when height-challenged Stuart Horten thinks his big adventure is over he discovers that Great-Uncle Tony has left behind yet another mystery:he's hidden his will, and his magic tricks are the clues to its location!  As Stuart tries to find the long-lost document and outwit a nefarious newcomer who's also after it, the tricks suddenly transport him (with triplets April, May, and June in tow) far away from Beeton.  The foursome must use their smarts to solve even trickier puzzles to get home-or risk losing everything-in this action-packed, laugh-out-loud middle-grade sequel.

Big guy, now 8, was super excited to get another book to review.  Big guy goes through books like some kids go through candy and as soon as this book arrived it was game on.  The first night of reading he came downstairs and his thoughts on the book were that there was A LOT of magic and that it made good pictures in his mind.  I love a book that paints good visual imagery so I was excited to hear that not only did this book do that but that he recognized it.  Two nights of reading before bed later he brought the book to me long after he should have been asleep.  "I'm done with the book, can we write the review?"  he asked.  Me, staring at him through slits, tucked deep into my bed replied "tomorrow".  So we sat down the next day and chatted.  He gave the book two thumbs up and would definitely recommend it to a friend to read.  Having not read the first book I think it took him a little while to get in to the story but once he was in he was hooked.  This book was outside his normal genre of non-fiction and historical fiction so I was happy he enjoyed something a little different.  We are keeping this book on the bookshelf in Big Guy's room because he said it's a book he would read again on a rainy day.  That, to me, is a positive review right there.

Elizabeth Mitchell: Little Seed....Review & Give Away!

Are you looking for a great new listen for your commute?  I have a wonderful, soothing, folksy pick for you today....Elizabeth Mitchell's Little Seed is a joy for the ears of both you and your children.  Here is the scoop...

Elizabeth Mitchell's Little Seed: Songs for Children by Woody Guthrie, featuring re-imagined renditions of 13 kid-friendly Guthrie classics, is now available to purchase in CD or digital download format.

The only CD of Guthrie’s children’s songs coinciding with the Woody Guthrie Centennial, Little Seed pays tribute to the legendary songwriter's uncanny ability to inhabit both the perspective of a loving, protective parent and the voice of a freewheeling child. The album includes thoughtful versions of children’s songs “Riding in My Car,” “Grassy Grass Grass,” and “Bling Blang.” Mitchell also shares her version of “This Land Is Your Land,” Guthrie’s signature song that many people consider a second national anthem.

As always, she is joined on the recording by family (husband Daniel Littleton and daughter Storey) and friends, including Amy Helm, daughter of the late Levon Helm, pillars of the American acoustic music scene Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, and Ruthy Ungar of Mike and Ruthy and formerly of the Mammals.

"Woody Guthrie’s songs for children are a gift to all of us. They are a part of me, part of my family," says Mitchell. "Thank you, Woody, for giving us this beautiful experience and so many others like it. We can feel this profound musical joy anytime, anywhere, with you in our spirits and your songs in our hearts."

Little Seed is her third Smithsonian Folkways album, following You Are My Little Bird (2006) and Sunny Day (2010), and features eight newly recorded tracks and five previously issued favorites.

Woodie Guthrie's children's songs are pure treasures and Elizabeth Mitchell's beautiful, pure voice is the perfect messenger for  his powerful words.  The songs are delightful and are not only for children.  This is a CD the whole family will enjoy.  Who doesn't love the song This Land is Your Land?? That is one I loved from when I was a child and now my kiddos are big fans too.  Fans of Woodie Guthrie, young and old, should have Little Seed in their collection!  Pick up your copy today....

Back to School with FlashKids! Review & Give Away!

My twins start kindergarten in just a few weeks.  I simply can't believe I am nearly a mom to school aged children.  The years go by so quickly.  Expect me to be a puddle of emotions on that first day!  One thing I am confident about as far as school goes, is that A&W are ready.  Really ready. They love to learn, are curious about the world and are like little sponges for information.  In preparation for kindergarten we have been using some wonderful tools from FlashKids.  Have you heard about Flashkids?  They have flash cards and workbooks created by educators and parents FOR educators and parents.  They cover every aspect of your child's education with fun and engaging pictures and clear, easy to follow directions.  FlashKids covers takes your child from learning colors to complicated long division with ease!

Because we are entering kindergarten in the fall, we were lucky enough to review three items from the FlashKids collection focusing on kindergarten learning.  The first Sight Worlds Flash Cards have become a game in our home....
There are 86 cards containing over 150 sight words (words frequently encountered which cannot be easily sounded out) and you can't beat the $3.95 price tag.  We make learning extra fun by seeing how many the boys can name in a set amount of time.

We also received The Complete Book of Sight Words and this book has been super for worksheets.  My son, "W", really enjoys doing worksheets and seems to learn best this way.  Here are the details from the FlashKids website....

Learning to recognize common words that don't follow regular spelling rules--and can't be “sounded out”--is an important step to becoming a strong reader. The engaging activities in this workbook teach 220 of these essential words in a structured format that encourages independent work. Fun games and puzzles keep children's interest level high, unit tests review and reinforce new vocabulary.

This book is HUGE and covers a lot of ground.  I love that, while the focus is obviously on learning, the creators have taken care to ensure that the road to learning is paved with fun.  Word finds and linking letter exercises are a favorite of the boys and they really enjoy this book. The illustrations are also vivid and engaging further adding to the appeal.

Lastly, the boys and I were able to review Alphabet Puzzles and Games.  This 60+ page workbook is super.   It is filled with great learning worksheets that are fun with easy to follow directions.  There are pages which ask your child to follow a specific letter on a path, color specific letters to create a picture, circle items which begin with a certain letter and so  much more.  At the end of the book there are fun stickers and a certificate of completion.  This book was a huge hit with both A&W.

I think learning should be a fun adventure for children and I think Flashkids has done an excellent job combining important skills with fun and engaging games.  I know we all want the children in our lives to be successful and happy in their school lives and FlashKids has created tools to help us guide our children on their path.  I am a huge fan of FlashKids and will certainly be adding on to our own FlashKids collection as the years progress.  To view the entire FlashKids product list for all skill and grade levels click HERE.  You will also find free, downloadable worksheets as well so be sure to check out www.flashkids.com.

I am so excited to tell you that the publisher is giving one lucky RBM reader a FlashKids workbook of their choice! Thanks so much to the sponsor and here is how to enter....

What the Nanny Saw by Fiona Neill....Review & Give Away!

I just finished up a great read....What the Nanny Saw by Fiona Neill.  It had me flipping pages when  I should have been prepping for my move (but that is another story!).  This was a can't put down read!  Here is the scoop...

It’s the summer of 2008. For the past decade Nick and Bryony Skinner and their four children have ridden high on the economic boom, but their luck is about to run out. Suddenly, the privileged family finds itself at the center of a financial scandal:
their Central London house is besieged by the press, Nick disappears, and Bryony and the children become virtual prisoners in their own home. And Ali, their trusted nanny, watches it all. As the babysitter, she brings a unique insider-outsider perspective to the family, seeing far more than even the family itself is capable of. But when a reporter with a personal connection to the story comes asking her for the inside scoop, will Ali remain loyal to the family who never saw her as anything other than the help? Or will she tell her side?
Written with Fiona Neill’s delicious humor and addictive style, What the Nanny Saw is a keenly observed, often comical chronicle of the urban wealthy elite, of parents who are often too busy to notice what is going on under their own noses, of children left to their own devices, and of a young nanny thrown into a role she doesn’t know how to play. It is a morality tale of our time, a tale of betrayal, the corrosive influence of too much money, and why good people sometimes do bad things.

This was my first time reading Fiona Neill and I can easily add her to my favorite author list.  In What the Nanny Saw, she has created a riveting tale with well developed characters.  From the first page, I was invested in Ali and I had to know how the big scandal played out.  The Skinner family is the ultimate in high society dysfunction and the intrigue about their scandals, affairs and lies kept me reading.  Ali is an integral part of their family yet not really family and she is deeply enmeshed in their lives....but does she know what really happened??  Trust me....you want to know more! This book is the perfect way to cap off your summer reading list.  Pick up your copy today....

    Tide Pods...Review!

I do a lot of laundry.  Lots and lots of laundry.  I have three children who feel the need to change each time they get a drop of anything on their clothes as well as a husband and a mother I do laundry for.  Oh, and there is me, who is perpetually being spilled on or used as a human napkin.  My washer is pretty much going at all times.  Because I have such a mountain of laundry, I am very selective on the detergent I use.  I don't like to skimp on quality because I need our clothes to come clean the first time.  I simply do NOT have the time to wash things more than once to remove stains. No thanks!

I am a huge fan of Tide.  Tide gets our clothes clean and keeps them smelling fresh.  What I am really loving right now are the new Tide Pods.  These handy little packets are so simple...you toss them in the washer and they clean, fight stains and brighten all at once.  One product with no measuring and no mess.  Brilliant!  Here are the details....

Tide’s reinventing the way you do laundry! New Tide Pods clean, fight stains, and brighten in one. No more pouring, no more spills—just toss one in. It’s that easy!
    • Detergent + stain remover + brightener in one
    • Innovative, new multi-chamber design separates ingredients until they hit the wash for outstanding cleaning power
    • No more measuring or spilling. Just toss one in!
    • Dissolves quickly in front & top load machines
    • Available in three scents: Spring Meadow, Ocean Mist & Mystic Forest
I was lucky enough to receive samples of the new Tide Pods in Spring Meadow and I am hooked.  Our clothes are clean, bright, smell great and all with no fuss.  This is exactly what I need to ease my laundry burden.  If you have not tried Tide Pods yet you really should.  It will change the way you do laundry.  Now, if I could just find a laundry fairy to come put all these clothes away!

To learn more about Tide Pods, visit their website here or follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

And Laughter Fell From the Sky by Jyotsna Sreenivasan...Review & Give Away!

This summer I have been doing so much reading. I have all but ditched television in the evenings in favor of a good book.  I have read so many super ones lately. The latest?  And Laughter Fell from the Sky by Jyotsna Sreenivasan.  Here is the scoop...

Still living at home despite a good career and financial independence, beautiful and sophisticated Rasika has always been the dutiful daughter. With her twenty-sixth birthday fast approaching, she agrees to an arranged marriage, all while trying to hide from her family her occasional dalliances with other men.
Abhay is everything an Indian-American son shouldn't be. Having spent his postcollege years living in a commune, he now hops from one dead-end job to another, brooding over what he really wants to do with his life.
Old family friends, Rasika and Abhay seem to have nothing in common, yet when the two reconnect by chance, sparks immediately fly. Abhay loves Rasika, but he knows her family would never approve. Rasika reluctantly accepts she has feelings for Abhay, but can she turn her back on the family rules she has always tried so hard to live by? The search to find answers takes Abhay and Rasika out of their native Ohio to Oregon and India, where they find that what they have together might just be something worth fighting for.

I really enjoyed this book. I found the story line compelling and rich with culture.  Raskika definitely did some questionable things (like pretty much leading a double life!) but when faced by the overwhelming demands of her culture and lifestyle I am not sure what I would have done either.  This was a great book filled with love, family and relationships.  And Laughter Fell From the Sky should not be missed....a great read!  Pick up your copy today on Amazon....

Puff the Magic Dragon...Review & Give Away!

Did you know it is nearly the 50th Anniversary of the beloved song, Puff the Magic Dragon?  I remember that being a staple of my childhood.  We had the record and I loved watching the movie.  It was a true childhood favorite.  I still love the song and the story behind it and I was delighted to hear about a new book coming in September to celebrate this touching song.  Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter Yarrow and Lenny Lipton with paintings by Eric Puybaret will be available next month and is a must for your book collection.  Here is the scoop...

Toddlers love friendly dragons, too--and now their time has come, with a beautiful board-book version of Puff, the Magic Dragon!
This sturdy new volume features Eric Puybaret's stunning art from the phenomenally successful and critically praised picture book. It's the perfect celebration of the 50th anniversary of Peter Yarrow and Lenny Lipton's beloved children's song.

In 1959, Peter Yarrow and Lenny Lipton co-created the beloved song "Puff, the Magic Dragon." As a member of the renowned trio Peter, Paul & Mary, Peter Yarrow has earned many gold and platinum awards and numerous Grammys®, as well as an Emmy® nomination for his animated TV specials based on "Puff, the Magic Dragon." Among the many honors bestowed upon him, Yarrow is most proud of the Allard K. Lowenstein Award, which he received in 1982 for advancing the causes of human rights, peace, and freedom. He lives in New York City.

Lenny Lipton is the inventor of the modern 3-D projection system used in cinemas worldwide and the author of four books on motion-picture technology. He received an award from the Smithsonian for his invention.

Eric Puybaret graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Puff, the Magic Dragon was his first book, and he has since gone on to illustrate several others, including The Nutcracker for Sterling, and a picture book edition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow with a musical interpretation by Judy Collins. Puybaret lives in Paris, France.

Wow.  First of all, the song and the story just never get old.  As an adult, I understand it more and the sentiment behind a fleeting childhood.  I truly find my voice cracking at the end when Jackie Paper does not return to Puff....oh boy!  This song is just so powerful in its' pure beauty and Eric Puybaret has done a remarkable job of bringing it to life.   Honalee is brought to life in rich colors and the adventures depicted on the pages are just the sort any young boy would have with his friend the dragon!  I should think  bringing such an incredibly popular and beloved song to live would be a daunting if not impossible task but Eric Puybaret has nailed it.  Puff the Magic Dragon is now a childhood favorite with my own children and I am so happy to share this with them.   Now if only I could keep them little forever so they don't take the Jackie Paper route!  Hmmm....something to think about!

Please treat your children to this book when it arrives in September.  You will be so glad you did.  You can pre-order on Amazon...

I am so pleased to tell you that the publisher, Sterling, has graciously offered one lucky reader a copy of Puff the Magic Dragon! Thanks so much to Sterling Publishing and here is how to enter...

Keranique 8 Day Intensive Scalp Treatment...Review!

You may remember that I did a review of Keranqiue Shampoo and Conditioner last month (loved it!).  I was super excited when I was contacted to try our their 8-Day Intensive Scalp Treatment.  This addition to the line I loved sounded fantastic.  Here is the scoop...

    Boot Camp for Your Scalp
Keranique Introduces New 8 Day Intensive Scalp Treatment to Address Seasonal & Stress Related Hair Thinning
Environmental changes including the transitioning of seasons can do a number on the skin. We prep and cleanse with scrubs, moisturizers and a variety of skin treatments - but what about our scalp? Fluctuations in temperature, excessive styling and stress all attribute to thinning hair. According to WebMD.com, a major development as of late has been the application of skin care ingredients to hair care. Peptides, for example, provide extra conditioning and make the hair shaft stronger by depositing a shield on the shaft.
Keranique’s new 8-Day Intensive Scalp Treatment uses the science of skin care to help stimulate and rejuvenate the scalp, creating healthy conditions for hair to grow. This intensive, leave-in scalp therapy features the highest recommended concentration of a clinical strength, patented peptide to help strengthen and “anchor” the hair at the root. It also helps reduce DHT on the scalp, stimulate skin proteins, and reduce scalp irritation to support thicker, healthier hair as it grows. Results can be seen in just 8 days.
To Use: Apply to towel dried hair. Apply an entire ampoule of solution to the scalp, section by section. Massage in to distribute evenly. Do not rinse. Style as usual.
    $60 available via www.hsn.com and www.keranique.com

Every now and again I like to share so I passed this along to my mother in law and guest reviewer, The Queen Bee (follow here HERE).  Here is what she had to say...

My mom used to complain about trying to get a brush through my thick hair. Now, many years later, I wonder if I was just dreaming that. Over the last few years my hair has steadily lost volume and my once thick hair is now thin & fine, with no body.
I had heard about Keranique through my daughter-in-law, so I read up on the products. I decided to try the Intensive Scalp Treatment. The kit consists of 8 small vials, for 8 days of treatment. Keranique calls it a kick start. After towel drying your hair, just section it off and massage the treatment into each section. Dry & style as usual.
The product is loaded with peptides and amino complex which strengthen your hair at the root, thickening each shaft. It helps to stimulate and nourish the hair follicle, so that hair is healthier. After using the 8 day treatment, I can say my scalp feels great, my hair feels healthier. It is fuller & bouncier. I look forward to trying the other products in the Keranique line.

Keranique is once again a hit here at Reviewed by Mom!  Be sure to visit ww.keranique.com to purchase the entire line.
