My three children are beyond excited for Halloween. We have been talking costumes, candy, trick or treating and reading some fun books about the holiday. A new favorite book in our home is Skeleton for Dinner by Margery Cuyler. Here is the scoop...
Big Witch and Little Witch have made stew, and now they want to have
their friends for dinner! But when Skeleton mistakes the guest list for a
menu, he takes off running, and soon Ghost and Ghoul join him too! But
poor Little Witch has no idea there’s a misunderstanding. Luckily
there’s one creature in the haunted forest who can help everyone figure
it all out. This spooky and silly read-aloud is just right for
What fun we have had reading this book! The cast of characters are just spooky enough to be exciting without truly scaring little listeners. The story line had all three of my children laughing and wondering how poor Skeleton, Ghost and Ghoul would figure out what the Witches really wanted them for! The illustrations where spooky in a fun way and brought the story to life. As a parent, I really appreciated a Halloween themed books that did not come across as too scary AND discussed how things can appear scary when in fact they really aren't. This is a delightful book to introduce children to Halloween fun.
This is a book we have read again and again in anticipation of Halloween and I am betting that once our Halloween decorations come down, this book will remain on our shelf for year round reading! You can pick up your copy today on Amazon....
